8 Pillars of Balance for Busy Women | Jenny Stemmerman

Do you feel that work/life balance is not possible? Guess what? Balance IS possible and Jenny Stemmerman of YourLifeRocks.com helps us figure out how to reframe balance and make it work even in the midst of the beautiful chaos that is our life.

Define what balance looks like to you with the 8 pillars that make up your life (faith, marriage, parenting, health, career, home, finances, fun/friends). You have to define it for yourself and not anyone else.

Set goals in all areas for a 90 day period. Avoid all or nothing thinking and look for small wins that move you forward, not necessary “arrive” where you want to be.

Keep in mind that stress is the tension point between reality and expectation. We can’t always control the reality, but we can the expectation.

Take an inventory of where you are in the 8 areas and identify what areas are priorities either by pain or neglect. Keep in mind that if you have been ignoring something for a long time, you might be numb to the pain. That doesn’t mean it’s healthy to keep neglecting it.

Actions you can take to create more balance (however you define it):

1. Plan ahead and start weekly planning. I have a free course around this called Weekly Success Planning. Look at all areas of life and what you can do to give energy to those areas by being proactive.
2. Focus on driving results in one area at a time….maybe just one a week.
3. Build systems and habits-SOP’s to keep the positive traction you are making. It requires energy to find what works for you but it is worth it.

Health Tip

In this Health Tip segment, I’m elaborating on a topic the Jenny and I briefly discussed: why you should change up your workout routine in order to get the most benefit from it.
