Darlene Brock is the President and Co-Founder of the Grit and Grace Project. She is also a Co-host of the This Grit and Grace Life Podcast. In a previous point in her career, Darlene was the Chief Operating Officer of a record label and produced award-winning music videos. When reviewing her incredibly successful career, Darlene says her most important and fulfilling job is being a mother.
In this episode, Darlene and I discuss how she uses hindsight to help moms who feel like they’re failing or struggling to be the best parent possible, why you need to use your strengths to be what your daughter needs and not trying to be the type of mother someone else says you should be, whether you should be your child’s friend or mom, the thirteen roles a mom has in her life; including military strategist, her tips for making the task of protecting our daughters seem a little less daunting, how she was able to keep her family as her main priority, her advice for new moms who’re struggling to find their way in motherhood, and more!
Real Talk
In this Real Talk segment, I respond to a question about what is “normal” when it comes to experiencing feelings of anxiety, sadness, and worry and how to know when it’s time to seek clinical help. I also explain, why I really don’t like the word “normal” and what word I prefer to use instead.
