Much of your daily life is spent doing shallow work- the everyday maintenance of life. This is necessary and good work, but it is not your most important work.
In accomplishing shallow tasks, you feel like you’re getting a lot done and you are, but shallow work can easily take over your entire life. Years pass, without a realization that you are putting out surface fires.
Deep work is described as “activities performed in a state of distraction-free concentration that push your cognitive capabilities to their limit.”
In this episode, I discuss Cal Newton’s concept of Deep Work and provide tips on how you can integrate deep thinking in a busy life to increase health in your relationship with yourself and others.
